About the bus
Guest

In the 1950s, London Transport (LT) was looking to replace it's fleet of trolleybuses and commissioned AEC to build
the Routemaster (RM) which first appeared on the streets in 1959. The original design plan was for a 17 year life span,
but the fleet was only withdrawn from service a half century after the original prototypes were built .

Production of the RM style bus consisted of 2120 vehicles it is estimated that there is just 800 of this style left.

Route Master RM1950

Built in 1964 by AEC for the London Transport Company the RM1950 operated in England from July 1964 until November 1985 when it was taken out of service. In June of 1986 the bus was exported to Ottawa Canada, where in 1995 it was converted to an open top. June 2002 brought the bus to Boston, Massachusetts, where it was a tour bus until June of 2006. July of 2006 the bus was brought to Pinardville, New Hampshire and converted to an ice cream stand. The bus is roadworthy and has been kept as close to original as possible. The bus can often be seen on location or cruising the streets of Manchester.
